Instagram Professional accounts come with a messaging inbox designed to help you manage your notifications and organize your messages efficiently. By default, all notifications are turned off, but you can enable them through the Inbox Settings to stay updated.
Organizing Your Inbox :
The Instagram inbox is divided into three categories: Primary, General, and Requests. By default, any new conversation from your followers will appear in the Primary folder. However, conversations that existed before you activated Instagram Messaging will remain in the folders where you originally placed them.
Messages from users who don't follow you will appear in the Requests folder. You can choose to accept or decline these requests, and the messages will not be marked as "Seen" until you accept them. Once accepted, you can move these conversations to either the Primary or General folder. Additionally, any message request you respond to via a third-party app will automatically be moved to the General folder.
Inbox Limitations :
-
Third-Party App Responses: If you reply to a message using a third-party app, the conversation will be moved to the General folder, irrespective of your current settings.
-
Folder Support: The Instagram messaging platform doesn’t support inbox folders in the same way that the Instagram app does. Messages delivered through the Messenger Platform will not display folder information in the Instagram from Meta app inbox.
-
API and Webhooks: Notifications or messages delivered via webhooks or the API are not marked as "Read" in the Instagram app. A message will only be considered "Read" once you send a reply through the app.
Understanding these features and limitations allows you to manage your Instagram Professional inbox more effectively, ensuring you never miss an important conversation while keeping your messages well-organized.
